Preparation for Scanning Dell PowerStore
StorageGuard collects configuration data from Dell PowerStore storage systems by running read-only API calls over HTTPS.
The following table lists the requirements for scanning Dell PowerStore:
# | Description |
1 | Provide the network name or IP address of each PowerStore Manager. |
2 | Provide a REST username and password for each PowerStore Manager. |
3 |
The user account should be assigned with an unlimited
read-only role, capable of running all GET
API calls. Examples of REST-API endpoints used:
|
4 | Ensure HTTPS (port 443) connectivity is available between the StorageGuard server and each PowerStore manager. |
Creating a User Account for Dell PowerStore
The following suggested method can be used to create a user account with appropriate privileges:
- Login to PowerStore Manager.
- Go to Settings > Users in the Security section.
- Click Add.
- Enter a user name in the Username field.
- Select a role for the account from the User Role drop-down menu.
- Enter a password in the New Password and Verify Password fields.
- Click Apply.
NOTE: Due to Dell PowerStore's current role limitations, the Operator (read-only) role may not allow all StorageGuard configuration checks to run. Certain checks, such as local user configuration, require Security Administrator privileges.
