Sybase Scan Requirements

AvailabilityGuard™ collects data from Sybase by connecting through JDBC to each Sybase server master database and running read-only system table queries.

To scan a Sybase instance, you should make the following preparations:

• Identify the instance virtual IP (name or address) - if not automatically discovered.
  
• Identify the instance connection port - if not automatically discovered.
• Obtain a user account on each instance with rights to query system tables and execute @@ queries.
  
• Make sure that IP connectivity through JDBC (default port 5000) is available between the
  AvailabilityGuard™ collector server and each instance.
