The following article describes common Windows scan issues and how to resolve them -
Authentication error / expired password
Ensure you have the correct user name and password, and that the password is valid. Attempt to login manually. Re-enter the credentials into AvailabilityGuard and attempt to re-scan.
Credentials should be entered in the following format: domain\username.
Connection error
Possible reasons -
- Firewall does not enable WMI / WinRM access from AvailabilityGuard to the target host. Ensure the host is scanned through the correct AvailabilityGuard collector.
- Access is denied - Login permission is not granted.
- WinRM is not configured. This issue can be resolved by running " winrm quickconfig" on the target host.
- Login hours constraints were configured.
- Disable IPV6 on the AvailabilityGuard server.
Partial scan
Possible reasons -
- User is not granted with the local administrator rights.
- CIFS access is not enabled or permitted.
- Symantec endpoint security or a similar tool is blocking execution of vb scripts.
- Required utilities are missing. AvailabilityGuard may require certain utilities to be available on the target hosts depending on the Operating System and on storage systems access. Refer to the Scan Requirements section for additional detail. For example, the free EMC tool inq may be required on hosts accessing EMC VMAX storage systems.
- Missing rights. Verify that the user account has the following right Local Security Policy -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment -> Replace a process level token on each server
