The following article describes common EMC CLARiiON / VNX scan issues and how to resolve them -
- Incorrect Credential type
- Special characters used in the password
- Scan timeout when security level is set to MEDIUM
Important note: Two credentials sets are required for scanning EMC CLARiiON / VNX storage systems -
Credential Set 1: For the host (storage proxy) installed with naviseccli
Credential Set 2: For the target storage system.
Incorrect Credential type
When configuring an AvailabilityGuard credential for EMC CLARiiON / VNX storage systems, take particular care to choose the CLARiiON credential type instead of the default "User/Password" type.
Example:
Note: The credential set for the storage proxy host running navisecli should use standard types (User/Password, SSH key authentication, etc.)
Special characters used in the password
When the password contains special characters (such as $#@), EMC VNX arrays scan fails. This is a known issue.
Scan timeout when security level is set to MEDIUM
When VNX security level is set to 'medium', naviseccli read-only commands may hang. This is a known issue.
NOTE: The EMC Naviseccli software is installed on a Unix / Linux / Windows host. Thus, it is highly recommended to also review the following articles for additional information on possible scan issues and how to resolve them:
