AvailabilityGuard provides several options for tuning the risks detected and presented -
- Gap-related System Properties
- Gap and Ticket Suppression
- Ticket Suppression
- Granular Gap Suppression
- Symptom Suppression
Gap-related System Properties
The System Properties page of AvailabilityGuard includes a Gap Rules category. The properties included in the Gap Rules category control various aspect of the risk detection. For example, the VMware snapshot age threshold, in days property defines what is the number of days a snapshot can exist before AvailabilityGuard will report it as a best practice violation. Another example is the Cluster local file system comparison: file system names to ignore property which defines a "black list" of file systems that should be ignored when comparing clustered hosts.
To view and/or edit Gap Rules System Properties:
- Navigate to the Configuration tab and select System Properties on the left bar.
- Expand the Gap Rules group in the main pane.
- Double click to edit the value of a property.
NOTE: For tickets based on Resiliency SLA or Standby policies, edit the policy definitions to tune the criteria for opening a ticket. Similarly, for tickets that rely on manually configured sites and HA clusters, edit the definition of such objects to tune the results.
Gap and Ticket Suppression
Once tickets have been generated, users may use various suppression option to tune the ticket list, as follows:

Symptom Suppression
Other than Ticket and Gap Suppression, some tickets also offer the option to suppress a "Symptom". A symptom in the context of a ticket is a sub-component in the ticket. For example, in a ticket showing all un-replicated file systems, for each file system there will be a dedicated symptom. By suppressing a symptom, users can tune certain part of the ticket which are potentially less threatening or by design.
To Suppress a Symptom:
- Navigate to the Tickets tab and click on a target ticket.
- Select the Symptoms Tab at the lower ticket details pane.
- Under the Actions column, click on Suppress Symptom for the specific symptom you wish to suppress.
- Follow the instructions in the opened dialogue and click OK.
- Suppressed symptoms will take effect after risk analysis has been executed. The parts suppressed by symptoms will be removed from the Ticket Details. if no additional info exists to present in the ticket, the state of the ticket will change to CLOSED.
NOTE: It is recommended not to Suppress Symptom Type unless instructed by a Support Engineer.
