Preparation for Scanning IBM FlashSystem (XIV / A9000)
StorageGuard collects configuration data from IBM XIV and A9000 storage systems by running read-only XCLI commands on a host installed with IBM XIV management tools (aka XCLI proxy host).
The following table lists the requirements for scanning IBM storage systems:
# | Description |
1 | Provide the name or IP address of XCLI proxy hosts. |
2 | Provide a user account (and password) for each XCLI proxy host. |
3 | Provide the network name or IP address for each XIV / A9000 storage system. |
4 | Provide an array user account (and password) for each XIV / A9000 storage system |
5 | The user account should be assigned with an unlimited read-only role, capable of running all “list” and “get” commands. Examples of read-only commands used:
|
6 | Verify IP connectivity through SSH (default is port 22) is available between the StorageGuard server and each XCLI proxy host. |
7 | Verify IP connectivity is available between the XCLI proxy host and each XIV / A9000 array that it scans. |

The following suggested method can be used to create a user account with appropriate privileges:
user_define user=cntuser password=<password> password_verify=<password> category=<role_name>
