Preparation for Scanning Dell EMC VNX

StorageGuard collects configuration data from EMC VNX storage systems by running read-only NaviSECCLI commands on a storage management host installed with Navisphere CLI.

The following table lists the requirements for scanning EMC VNX / CLARiiON systems:

# Description
1 Provide the network name or IP address of NaviCLI proxy hosts.
2 Provide a user account (and password) for each NaviCLI proxy host.
3 Provide the network name or IP address for SP A of each VNX / CLARiiON storage system.
4 Provide an array user account (and password) for each VNX / CLARiiON storage system
5 The user account should be assigned with an unlimited read-only role. Examples of read-only commands used:
  • naviseccli -np -port <port> -user <username> -password <password> -scope 0 -h <array IP/name> getall
  • naviseccli -np -port <port> -user <username> -password <password> -scope 0 -h <array IP/name> security -tls -get
naviseccli -np -port <port> -user <username> -password <password> -scope 0 -h <array IP/name> remoteconfig -getconfig
6 Verify IP connectivity through SSH (default is port 22) is available between the StorageGuard server and each NaviCLI proxy.
7 Verify IP connectivity is available between the NaviCLI proxy and each VNX array that it scans.
 

 

Creating a User Account for Scanning Dell EMC VNX

The following suggested method can be used to create a user account with appropriate privileges:

naviseccli -address <SP A IP> security -adduser -user cntuser -password <password> -scope global -role Monitor
