A deployment of StorageGuard consists of several components, described below. Diagram 1 illustrates the deployment architecture.
The deployment components of the StorageGuard are:
Component |
Description |
Master Server |
A Windows server responsible for the core services such as User Interface, data processing, data analytics (risk detection engine), API and more. The user interface can be access over http/https from your browser. The master server can also perform the role of a collector. |
Database |
The master server uses a PostgreSQL or Oracle database to store system configuration and data collected from various IT systems. The database can be installed locally on the master server or remotely on another host. |
Collector Server(s) – Optional |
A Windows server responsible for remotely interfacing with target IT systems and gathering the configuration required for the analysis. All collectors report back to the master server which in turn can process the configuration data and perform the risk detection processes. Collectors should be considered in deployments which include multiple locations. |
Scanned IT infrastructure |
The storage systems, backup systems, management servers and SAN switches in your datacenters that are scanned and analyzed by StorageGuard. |
