Master Server Requirements
General requirements
- Operating system: Windows 2016, 2019 or 2022 64-bit | English edition and Locale
- Disk drives: at least two drives, one standard Operating System drive and an additional drive for the StorageGuard software.
- Required software: Oracle client (if Oracle DB used), NotePad++ (or similar)
- Type: Either a physical server or a virtual machine.
- User account: local administrative rights.
- Guidelines for optimal performance:
- It is highly recommended to use internal SSD drives.
- If an external database server is used, the master server and database servers* should be connected to the same switch.
- Allocated resources should be dedicated to the StorageGuard servers.

** At least 2 CPU sockets.
*** Solid State Drive (SSD).
Database Requirements
The master server uses a database to store system configuration and data collected from various IT systems. The database can be installed locally on the master server or remotely on another host.
Supported DBMS: Oracle, Postgres
Oracle DB requirements
If you're planning to use an Oracle database for StorageGuard, take care to review the following requirements:
- DBMS: Oracle Database 12c Release 2, Oracle Database 18c or Oracle Database 19c, standard or enterprise edition.
- Disk: Solid State Drives (SSD) are recommended for optimal performance.
- Archive log: No.
- Tablespace: The default schema Tablespace is used.
- schema privileges: connect, dba (full database administrator rights)
- NLS_CHARACTERSET: AL32UTF8
- NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET: AL16UTF16
