Q: How is StorageGuard deployed?
A: StorageGuard is very simple to deploy since it is read-only and does not require any agents. The following deployment options are available -
Permanent StorageGuard Deployment for Ongoing Protection
StorageGuard is deployed on-premises, either by installing the software on a designated Windows virtual machine or by importing a VMware OVF file. Once you enter the scan credentials for Storage and Backup systems, you can immediately begin to analyze the security posture of the designated systems, review findings and remediation guidelines, and schedule repeatable scans.
If your organization has multiple datacenters, you may deploy StorageGuard collector virtual machines in remote sites. The collectors will scan local Storage and Backup systems and communicate with the master StorageGuard server to provide you with a complete and centralized view of your security posture for Storage and Backup.
StorageGuard-on-Demand Assessment by a Channel Partner
There are several deployment options for StorageGuard-on-Demand (SGoD):
1) Remote SGoD: Channel partner to scan Storage and Backup Systems remotely over a VPN connection from your office to the customer DC.
- Run StorageGuard VM on the consultant’s laptop or on designated host at the Service Provider office.
- Connect over secure VPN to the Customer environment.
- Run StorageGuard collection and analysis for the target scope of Storage and Backup systems.
2) Semi-Remote SGOD: Channel partner to scan Storage and Backup Systems locally and connect to the StorageGuard system over VPN.
- Deploy a StorageGuard OVF to the customer’s VM farm.
- Connect over secure VPN to the StorageGuard application/VM.
- Run StorageGuard collection and analysis for the target scope of Storage and Backup systems.
3) On-site SGOD: Channel partner to scan Storage and Backup Systems locally at the customer DC.
- Deploy a StorageGuard OVF to the customer’s VM farm.
- Run StorageGuard collection and analysis for the target scope of Storage and Backup systems.
