A: StorageGuard uses an agentless-scan and collects the configuration data from Storage and Backup systems by running read-only API and CLI commands over an HTTPS / SSH session on a user-defined schedule. No agents are installed or required.

When the environment includes multiple datacenters in different geographies, StorageGuard collectors enable gathering the configurations from Storage and Backup systems wherever they are located. StorageGuard collector VMs can be deployed in remote distant sites or segments behind an IP filter device, and then used to collect configurations of local storage and backup systems. Configuration data assembled by StorageGuard collectors are sent to and analyzed by the master (central) StorageGuard server.
