Overview
- The StorageGuard VM package includes a virtual machine pre-installed with all the components required to run StorageGuard - master, collector and database.
- Refer to StorageGuard Deployment Components for additional information.
Prerequisites
- Ask your account manager for a download link to the StorageGuard OVF zip file and a temporary StorageGuard license.
- Use the link to download the zip file and then extract it to a dedicated folder.
- Ensure you've selected a designated ESXi host on which the StorageGuard VM will run.
- The selected ESXi host should have sufficient resources to run the StorageGuard virtual machine.
- The default StorageGuard VM specification:
- 80 GB disk space
- 32 GB RAM
- 4 processor cores
- Windows Server 2016
- 80 GB disk space
Deploying the StorageGuard VM package on VMware ESXi
To deploy the StorageGuard virtual machine on an ESXi host, follow these instructions:
- Login to the vSphere client.
- Right-click on the designated decenter and select Deploy OVF Template from the context menu.
- Browse for the OVA file on your local storage. Select the OVA file and click Next.
- Select a name and folder and click Next.
- Select a compute resource and click Next.
- Review the OVF Template Details. Click Next.
- Check the I accept all license agreements box. Click Next.
- Select the storage for the configuration and disk files. Click Next.
- Select networks and configure IP Allocation Settings. Click Next.
- Customize the following settings:
- VM Hostname
- IP Address
- Netmask
- Default Gateway
- StorageGuard License (Mandatory) - Enter the license key provided by your Account Manager,
- OS License (Optional)
- Click Next.
- VM Hostname
- On the Ready to complete page, review the page and click Finish.
- Start the newly created virtual machine and wait a few minutes until the VM is up and accessible.
- When you login to the virtual machine, you will be required to select a new password for the Administrator account.
- The virtual machine will restart automatically to apply new settings.
You're done!
Now you can go straight ahead and login to the StorageGuard application to configure the scan and data analysis.
